About Henry

Hi, my name is Henry. Native from Honduras and live in South Bend for 7 years now. Graduate from Indiana University with a B.A in Mathematics and minor in Physics. I have been a high school teacher for about 2 years.

Also, before graduated from college, I worked as a tutor at Ivy Tech Community College in the areas of Algebra, Trigonometry, and College Algebra. I worked as a supplemental instructor at Indiana University South Bend in the Math department in the class of College Algebra. I am bilingual (Spanish-English) and very patient, I like to go step by step to solve problem so students can understand the process.

I enjoy reading Spanish literature and ride my bike on my free time. Also, enjoy working with my college professors in their research projects.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

Algebra II is not only another math class in high school, it is your key that will guide you through among other subjects such as linear equations, inequalities graphs, matrices, polynomials and radical expressions, quadratic equations, functions, exponential and logarithmic expressions, sequences and series, probability and trigonometry.
I will be gladly to help you to understand this subject with examples, guiding you through questioning so you can understand your class.

Calculus

I have four years experience tutoring calculus at a college level at Indiana University in South Bend. Also, experience tutoring at the local community college and AP calculus for high school students (AB/BC).

Differential Equations

In order to obtain my bachelor degree in mathematics, I had to take the class of differential equations I and II at Indiana University. I felt in love with the course and since then, even though I am a high school teacher, I have been keep helping students at a college level in differential equations.

Finite Math

Before started teaching at a high school level, I was a tutor for four years at Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend, Indiana. At the beginning, I tutored Finite Math (using the textbook "Finite Math for Business, Economics, Life Science, and Social Science of Barnett, Ziegler, and Byleen. However the last two years I became a supplemental instructor, I was inside the classroom helping students with questions about Math of Finance, Matrices, Logic, sets, Probability, Linear programming, and more.

Linear Algebra

I am qualified to tutor linear algebra because I tutored this subject for 2 years at Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend, IN. Also, I tutored this subject one year at Indiana University South Bend. I used several textbooks to tutor this class such as: Linear Algebra and its application, David C. Lay and Linear Algebra with applications, Holt.

Precalculus

I have more than four years of experience tutoring college algebra and trigonometry at a college level at Ivy Tech and Indiana University South Bend. Also, I have more than three years of experience teaching algebra at a high school level which gives me the capacity to explain this subject in a way that the student will find it easy to study.

Trigonometry

Before teaching high school, I was a supplemental instructor in college algebra and trigonometry at a community college in South Bend. Also, I was a trigonometry tutor at Indiana University in South Bend.
