I love teaching and helping others learn, accomplish their goals and eventually become lifelong learners themselves. I am coming from a family of teachers. My parents are elementary school teachers. I know that everyone has a different learning style from my experiences with students. I love teaching and helping others learn, accomplish their goals and eventually become lifelong learners themselves. I am coming from a family of teachers. My parents are elementary school teachers. I know that everyone has a different learning style from my experiences with students. Therefore, I try to do my best to adapt to the learning style of each student and strive to make the tutoring experience the most beneficial both for the student and myself. The worst thing that would happen is the waste of time of both the tutor and the student and his/her family and of the resources of the parents. Therefore, I expect a potential student to be willing to eagerly facilitate the process of learning/teaching. It is important to keep in mind that you can only teach someone who is willing to learn. In my tutoring approach, I provide an overview of the subject material in a simple way. Then, I go over some exercises with the students. Afterwards, I have the student work on a few exercises before we finish covering that particular subject matter. Depending on the level of understanding, I decide to go over it again and then give some assignments for the next session. At the beginning of every session, I make sure that I go over the homework and any other area that is not clear from the last meeting. Only after this, I move on to the new material. As I stated at the beginning, I do everything on my part to make the student feel comfortable to interact with the tutor, to ask questions freely, and provide feedback to improve the efficiency of the tutoring which will best suit the needs of the student. Overall, my goal as a tutor is to help you contribute to your success in your studies.

My approach and philosophy about tutoring stems from my own learning and also tutoring experiences. For example, I tutored middle and high school students in math (algebra, geometry, precalculus) and science (mostly biology and some chemistry). I also substituted for a math teacher at high school level for one semester.

I have strong theoretical foundation in math. I took math courses including Calculus I and II. I have an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, master's degree in Forest Biology and a doctorate in Forestry.

I look forward to hearing from you and be part of your journey to success in your studies!

Elementary Education

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Like in any subject, math builds up on simpler concepts. You have to know the basics to be able to work on more sophisticated concepts. Elementary math is the basis of math and I have all the qualifications to be able to teach it to students. Needless to say, I could not have tutored Algebra and Geometry without my solid background in elementary math.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is the next step from elementary math to mathematical thinking, which is the ability to represent unknowns with variables and using mathematical rules to find them. I took multiple math courses including Calculus I and Calculus II that covered all the topics of Algebra taught at K-12 and elementary college level.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I took multiple math courses including Calculus I and Calculus II that covered all the topics of Algebra taught at K-12 and elementary college level. I also tutored many students in Algebra 2. I have the background and the experience teaching it. I look forward to working with anyone who wants a better grasp on Algebra 2.
Biology,

Biology

Biology is all about living things and one of my passions. I always had an interest in living things and nature. The best way to learn about it was studying Biology. And that is exactly what I did! I studied Biological Sciences in college and have advanced degrees in ecology. I am very excited to help any student who wants to learn about the living environment!
Geometry,

Geometry

I have always loved geometry. It is real! Every place you look around, you see corners, lines, angles, 3-D shapes. It is part of life. I took multiple classes that focused on different aspects of geometry such as plane and solid geometry. I have the required background and the passion to teach it and help students along the way.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

Prealgebra represents the transition between elementary math and algebra. The goal of prealgebra is to prepare the student for studying algebra. I took multiple courses in math including Calculus. Therefore, I have the background that covers all the topics of prealgebra. I also tutored students in Algebra so I have the teaching experience, too. I look forward to working with students to prepare them for the fascinating study of algebra!
