I am a recently-retired physician who wishes to fulfill a lifetime desire to be a full-time educator. I successfully raised five children and, during their formative years, always enjoyed helping them whenever they struggled with their homework. Personally, I was, and forever will be, extremely grateful to my parents and those teachers and counselors who patiently taught and encouraged me along the way.
Enthusiastically, I adopted and applied their teaching styles during my professional career and, to this day, fondly recall the rewarding experiences of instructing and mentoring hundreds of medical students, interns, residents, nurses, physicians, paramedics, and EMT's–even high school students–on the various, most tenable aspects of medicine and life.
“He was appreciated and respected among the patients and physicians on the staff. In particular, I appreciated his willingness to teach and train our Emergency Department physicians and Hospitalists . . . He was a kind and patient teacher and was always eager to help . . .” --Laura Rife, MD, Chief of Medicine
I specialize in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, basic math, the life sciences, Microsoft Word, understanding Bible principles, and how to play and strategize in chess. Furthermore, I am quite comfortable teaching a student of any age. And all this I will do with abundant patience, compassion, and encouragement.
I always hold myself to the highest standard and encourage feedback. In fact, I do not bill for a lesson if the student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring.
I try to be flexible with time but require a 24-hour cancellation policy and will offer makeup sessions.
I do not mind traveling but can tutor in my home as well, where my wife and I have a quiet and comfortable study area. She will most likely be present if you come to our home, and she can be a very valuable resource if we both get stumped, because she is a nurse and successfully raised two boys by herself. (And there is no extra charge if she helps or offers us refreshments or snacks, because she and I are also all about practicing hospitality.) As a third option, the tutoring session can be conducted via Skype or email.
I look forward to helping you overcome your challenges! Cell# (513) 846-3815 (Note: Our home is in Shelbyville, IN, even though the area code "513' is Cincinnati, OH.) Email: firstname.lastname@example.org

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
