I have a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education plus 30 hours of graduate work in special education and administration. I taught elementary school for 20 years with a focus on reading, language arts, and language acquisition. I have worked with students with a wide range of special needs, including non-verbal, autistic, and medically homebound students. I have 12 graduate hours of work with gifted & talented students with training from Purdue's GERI program. I currently teach after school enrichment classes and after school ESL classes. I tutor in all elementary subjects as well as middle school reading and composition. I also can provide support for those with test anxiety by providing test prep classes. I prefer to tutor in area public libraries, and with one student at a time for hour long sessions. However, I can tutor students (up to 3) who are struggling with the same subject. My fees for individualized tutoring are $35 per hour. My fees for group lessons are $25 hour/per student (I.e. 2 students for $50/hr.; 3 students for $75/hr. I will travel 30 minutes from my home to a mutually agreed upon tutoring site.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
