Hello, my name is Chris and I am currently teaching Biology at Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne. I am also licensed to teach Biology, Chemistry, and Math at Indiana high schools. I have earned my Master of Science in Biology from the University of Northern Colorado, where I spent three years doing snake venom research [project name: Effects of Captivity or Season on Venom Composition in Two Species of Rattlesnakes (Crotalus atrox and C. v. viridis)]. I have given talks about my research at three national snake conferences. I also taught a variety of Biology labs (Herpetology, Mammalogy, Parasitology, Bio 101, and Anatomy/Physiology labs) for two of my years at UNCO.

As for my undergraduate, I graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Ecology, and Biochemistry. I spent two years there performing epigenetics research (project name: Knocking Down USF-1 to Study Epigenetic Modifications Across the Chicken ß-globin Locus During Erythroporesis).

My hobbies include fencing (4 years), photography (8 years), and computers (14 years). I served as the primary fencing instructor for 1 year and assistant instructor for 2 years, with my weapon of choice being the saber. I am experienced and skilled in the use of digital cameras for taking pictures and videos; three photos were included in a book my Master’s advisor published in 2009. I’ve assembled, repaired, and maintained software/hardware on numerous Microsoft Windows computers.

I believe that in order for true learning to take place, answers must be arrived at by the student, themselves, as opposed to being simply given by the instructor. Knowledge may be power, but the ability to acquire knowledge on one’s own is even more powerful. I have committed myself to lifelong learning/teaching and encourage others to do the same. To this end, I attempt to facilitate the critical thinking and analysis of every aspect of our daily lives. I am currently teaching Biology at Ivy Tech Community College and intend to start my PhD in Biology next year and continue doing snake venom research for the rest of my life.

Extremely Patient Tutor

There are not enough words to explain how well Chris and I worked out for tutoring. I am a 34 year old that was preparing to take the TEAS Nursing 6 Exam and needed to brush up on my Math skills that I hadn't used since high school. Chris and I met several times between June-September 2017. When I did take the TEAS exam I scored the highest in Math and I personally have Chris to thank for that. He is extremely patient, if you don't understand something you need to tell him and then he will figure out a different way to explain it to you. I have not had a tutor in years and the best part was he came to my house each and every time. I personally believe you pay for what you get and this was money well spent. Also Chris has several areas that he can tutor someone on. I will be taking Pathophysiology next semester and we have discussed that is also something he could help me with as far as tutoring since I am looking at taking it online. I really do hope this review helps others in there journey with finding a good tutor but I can rest assured I have never been happier with the knowledge I walked away with after having met with Chris.

Great Tutor

Chris has been great working with my son, he has helped him with Algebra I as high school freshman and is now helping him understand geometry his sophomore year.

Patient, and a well informed teacher

He showed he had a lot of patience with me when it took me some time to figure out how to set up an equation. Not only did he show me the equation but he also took me several step further than necessary to help me understand the equation a little better

Excellent

Very helpful, and adaptive to the goals of the session. Statistics are a bit of a weak point for me, and Mr. R. was more than capable of walking me through the processes.

Helped me understand

He helped me understand the information that I was learning in college Algebra. He went over the information again if I did not understand.
