In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My Indiana license allows me to teach K-8. I have been licensed since 1973. The majority of my teaching has been at those levels, including many adults who had various special needs and were functioning at the elementary level. These adults, many originally as low as 5th grade ability, eventually passed the GED test under my guidance and encouragement.
When I taught in the elementary levels, Math was my area of expertise. I now teach adults, but what most people don't realize is that they tend to be at the 5th-7th grade level, so working with middle school students is a perfect fit for me.
I've taught GED to teens and adults for 16 years, helping more than 1200 students to pass their test. Math is my specialty. I can diagnose what needs to be done, help students with getting over their fear of math, make the necessary skills easier, and also work on test taking strategy.
I have a K-8th grade life teaching license in Indiana. I have taught reading by using phonics to children and adults, including adult male inmates.
I am licensed in Indiana to teach K-8. I have taught every subject and every grade level. 16 years were spent teaching adults who were usually challenged in study skills. It was imperative that I taught them how to organize, strategize, etc. in order to pass their tests.
