Bio

Hello, I’m Tyler and I’m in the 3rd year of my PhD at Purdue University (Biomedical Engineering). I conduct computational research on the link between cardiovascular mechanics and the biomechanics of tissue degeneration in the brain, with a specific emphasis on early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease. Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball, and I frequently go rock climbing/bouldering.

I started tutoring in my first year of undergrad and have been tutoring off-on since then (7 years later). I’ve taught students in Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, and several other areas. Notably, I’ve been able to bring students that had a C- in geometry to a B+ as well as a C in Algebra to an A-. My teaching style focuses on tailoring course material to each individual student; in the past this has helped my students connect much more easily to the material. If you have suggestions on ways to improve our tutoring experience, I’m very approachable! I’d be happy to customize my lesson/plans to your needs. Looking forward to the chance to meet you!

I have tutored all of these subjects in the past and improved students grades from C- to B+. Additionally, I scored 164/170 on the Quantitative portion of my GRE, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from my chemical Engineering undergrad, scored a 2050 on my SAT’s in high school and passed the AP Calculus exam in high school. Currently, I am researching complex biomechanics of the brain in a solid mechanics context which is quite intensive with math so I am certainly not out of practice!

I graduate with Magna Cum Laude honors as well as was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering honors society during my Chemical Engineering undergraduate degree. Additionally, my group’s final project for Plant Design (senior year chemical engineering project) placed top 3 in the Delaware valley AIChE for the Zeisberg Award for Best Research/Plant Design Report 2019)

As a PhD student, my schedule is flexible and I very much enjoy tailoring each of my lessons to individu
