About Brittany

I am a recent graduate of Purdue University. All throughout college, I sought out opportunities to share my love of learning with this community, and that is how I developed a love for tutoring. As a student, I learned that passion and dedication are key to learning. As a tutor, I strive to help my students connect with their work, cultivate a love for the learning process, and set goals to knock out of the park!

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing, & Comparative Literature and graduated with a 3.7 GPA. Additionally, I was the president of Purdue Writers' Bloc, an member of the Purdue Student English Association, and a member ofSigma Tau Delta (English Honors Society).

I have a particular passion for working with children. When I was a kid, I suffered from hearing loss; therefore, I had a lot of trouble learning to speak and read correctly. I was so ashamed that I could not read out load as well as my classmates.

So, I threw myself into books, trying to absorb everything I could from them to become a better student, and that is when I learned my love for reading. Skills do not develop at the same rate for everyone, and I understand that some children simply need more time and exposure than others. It's my goal to make every student feel comfortable, confident, and empowered during our sessions.

In addition to personal experience, I have also volunteered for the Read to Succeed program, teaching reading to special needs students ages K-3.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
