Students give me feedback that I can explain material in a way that they can understand. I have 24 years experience in teaching at the college level in the field of biology, I believe that I am gifted in simplifying material so that a student can learn and this will be important in giving a student what he or she needs to improve grades on an exam. I have tutored students since I was in high school. In the past year, I have tutored many hours with students online and in person.
In addition to the many years of teaching experience at the college level, I have also designed courses for gifted students for different grades from first grade to ninth grade. These courses were offered through the Gifted Student Program at the University of Kentucky.
I feel the wide range of teaching experience will help me to be a great tutor for you in these subjects and I look forward to hearing from you. I do have experience with online tutoring if this is something you would like to pursue. I would be happy to be a tutor for you and will give you my best. Teresa was an awesome tutor! She helped me prepare for my Biology EOC. She was very patient and explained things in a way that made it very easy for me to understand and remember. I would definitely use her again.
I'm a college student needing help with Chemistry and Biology. Teresa and I have had many lessons together and she is very helpful and patient. She explains the material to me in a way that clicks and helps me remember it. If I'm not understanding my materials, she explains it in a different way and she has a chemistry book that explains the material in a different way, this is also very helpful. She takes notes from our lessons and photocopies them for me to use when I'm studying. I like how Teresa adjusts her tutoring style to what I need.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's degree in Biology with an emphasis in Genetics. My research project involved genetics experiments with the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. I performed genetics experiments involving the rl gene in the pyrimidine pathway and obtained mutations within this pathway in the fruit fly species. I have also taught a Genetics laboratory at the University of KY.
