Bachelor of Arts (IUPUI) (Japanese)
Hello everyone, my name is Jake and I am a new Wyzant tutor that specializes in teaching Japanese. I am able to travel locally to tutor students in the Indianapolis / Carmel / Fishers area on Sundays, but I am mainly looking to work as an online tutor. I tutored fellow students in Japanese all throughout my college career, and I tutored fellow students in various subjects in middle school and high school as well. I graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in December with a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and I am hoping to find students who are eager to learn Japanese to tutor as a side job while I am not working as an interpreter and translator for Sunright America.
While I haven’t worked for Wyzant for a long time yet, I have only received ratings of five stars. I am able to work with students on short notice, and able to work around your schedule as well. You will find that my lessons are both very engaging, as well as educational for a very fair price.
I approach my students with kindness, understanding, patience. I want my students to feel like they are really learning Japanese, so I constantly work to engage them in conversation with me, and speaking practice all throughout my lessons. My particular strength as a Japanese tutor is that I was once in the shoes that my students are in, namely trying to learn Japanese with English as my background language, so I am able to break down my lessons into the simplest terms and give helpful tips on how to remember and retain the information that I teach. I approach tutoring with an extremely optimistic and determined attitude that affects my students and helps them to become more engaged in the process of learning Japanese.
Hoping to hear from you soon,

I offer 2 hour lessons for 43.00 rather than 50.00.
My 15-year-daughter has had terrific success with Jake! She is much more comfortable in her Japanese class and Jake is helping substantially with homework. Jake has been very flexible with after-school schedule changes.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have lived and studied abroad in Japan. I have experience in teaching Japanese to many ages. I graduated from IUPUI with honors and Japanese as my major, and I currently work at Sunright America as a Japanese interpreter and translator.
