I am currently an adjunct professor teaching earth science classes at the University of Indianapolis. Before that, I taught full time at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis in the geology department for 14 years. I have three degrees, a BS and an MS in geology from the Ohio State University and a PhD in geology from University of Colorado. My specialty is mineralogy; I used X-rays to study mineral structures to solve earth related problems. I love to teach and I have a talent for explaining difficult concept in simple, understandable terms.
The majority of the classes I taught were basic science classes for non-science majors. This has afforded me years of experience helping non-science students to understand scientific principles. I am excited about being a tutor and working one on one with students of all ages. I have been teaching for most of my life and I am still excited about learning science and helping others to understand and become excited by science.
I have a fair amount of practical experience using math to do science. I think that understanding the applications of math is very helpful in teaching it. In college I took math classes up through and including differential equations.
