I began tutoring in 2001 when I began preparing adult learners for the GED exam at Ivy Tech State College. I graduated Valedictorian of my high school, and I have a tremendous love for learning and helping others. I am dedicated and committed to helping others achieve success in reaching their educational goals.
I have worked in the education industry for the past fifteen years, assisting students in various capacities, including: tutoring, college enrollment, and financial aid services. I want to return to my first love of tutoring because this is where I believe I can directly impact student success.
I excelled in various math disciplines throughout high school and college, including, Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, and College Math. I assisted students in these disciplines as a GED tutor at Ivy Tech.
I have a love for reading and writing, and also excelled in English courses throughout high school and college. I also focused on this field of study when preparing students for the GED examination.
My hourly rate is $30, and I am generally available Monday through Saturdays for up to 3 hours per day, and can travel to students or meet at the library to review assignments or prepare for exams. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have one year experience as a college admissions representative, and four years experience administering the COMPASS basic skills college entrance exam.
I also have 9 years experience providing financial aid assistance to college students.
