Hi potential students!
My name is Marisa, I am 23 years old and very interested in tutoring. I have been a professional nanny and tutor in Chicagoland area for the past 6 years and I am looking for a part time position starting in June. I currently work and live in Indianapolis and I am looking to build up a tutor clientele. A little bit of my history: I was a full time nanny for a variety of age groups: infant, toddler, children, and teenagers/young adults.
I am currently a sixth grade special education teacher and I am looking for a summer position. I am able to tutor all areas since I teach all areas as a special education teacher. I also am great at making accommodations and understanding that every person learns differently. Therefore, I am interested in tutoring all ages: children, teenagers, and young adults.
My favorite subjects are math, science, and English. I teach math every day during the school year. This has prepared me to produce material in a way that all students understand. I currently teach a math class with students of all different ability levels. Therefore, I am constantly making accommodations to my work. I believe I am a good grammar and English teacher because I have a huge passion for reading and writing. I enjoy teaching students and motivating them to continue learning. I teach a reading class as well during the school year in which we are always reading new material and practicing grammar.
I believe that every student can do their very best in school and in the future. I would love to assist students who need extra help, want to get ahead, or students preparing for an upcoming quiz. Please email me to talk about more opportunities and to set up tutoring.
In the past, I worked at a summer day camp for children with special needs ages 13-21 moderate to severe. This has taught me fun games and crafts to perform as well as having patience for children. I speak English and Spanish fluently. I am CPR certified, a non-smoker as well as have a clean driving record. I am also a dog owner so I would definitely not mind being around any pets. I’d be happy to provide references as well as meet or chat on the phone. Looking forward to hearing from you and I wish you the best of luck with your search!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified for this tutoring position because I have an Indiana teaching license mild intervention. The majority of the students on my caseload this last year were diagnosed with ADHD/ADD. I provide services and accommodations in order to serve these students every day.
I am currently a special education teacher in Indianapolis. I teach a resource class at a middle school. During this job opportunity I have learned a lot of accommodating to a variety of needs and behavioral concerns. I have also had experience with numerous disabilities such as: learning disabilities, ADHD/ADD, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and many more.
