Calvin S was born July 28, 1976 in Gary, Indiana. During Operation Desert Storm he enlisted into the US Navy, and served 3 years. Upon his return he became a US Postal Employee in addition to opening and engineering a small recording studio. After years of a void not being fulfilled Calvin decided to leave a career as a government employee. He became a full time student at Columbia College Chicago, studying television, and film.
Not wasting any time, Calvin began capturing backstage footage for various promoters, and venues. He also discovered that he had a gift for direction, when he began directing music videos for local hip-hop artists. During his sophomore year at Columbia College, he was presented the opportunity to direct a short film. This film received accolades for Best Short Film in the 2008 International Panafrican Film Festival, in Cannes France.
The following year Calvin then went on to start his own production company, while still directing music videos, short films and documentaries. Later having the opportunity to work with one of his idols, Director Spike Lee, on the Great Michael Jackson's last music video, “This is it.” He is in the currently in the pre-production stages of his first full feature film.
He's been directing, editing and working as a Cinematographer for over 9 years, working throughout the US and internationally as well. He's won awards for best director and chosen for Prestigious Film Festivals nationally and internationally as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm an Independent Film Maker, currently shooting Music Videos, Documentaries and Independent Films. For 4 years I've study television at Columbia College Chicago and I've been working in Video production for over 9 years, Freelancing for networks such as CNN, Fox and WTTW. Also working as Technical Director for a Nationally Broadcast Church Service.
