About Natalie

I was paid by Purdue for three semesters to tutor in math and chemistry. During this time, I put together lesson plans for study sessions, and also got together one on one with students. I tutored non-traditional students for a semester (students who have been out of school for awhile and were returning to school), so I have experience teaching a wide range of age groups. I also helped, and continue to help, many of my friends and family as they study different subjects in school that I excelled in.

Additionally, I love teaching. It is a huge passion of mine. I feel called to teach. I am incredibly patient with students and love finding ways to help them arrive at the correct answer. I do not believe in simply telling the student what the answer is, but I teach them how to arrive there themselves. I am not afraid of mistakes, and encourage them! This ensures that they have the freedom to try and will eventually lead to their success. My favorite moment is seeing the light bulb go off!

I am an outstanding math tutor because I took four semester of calculus in college (Cal 1-3 and differential equations) and got an A in every class. I graduated with a degree in engineering, so math was a huge part of my success. I am very passionate about math and am one of the few who actually have fun doing it! I am very good at breaking down difficult concepts into smaller pieces that the student can understand.

I am an outstanding math tutor because I took two semesters of college chemistry and received an A both times. I also was a paid tutor by Purdue University for three semesters for first year chemistry. I put together creative study sessions and encouraged students to learn difficult concepts in new, fun ways.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions and let me know when we can meet up!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Flute

I have played flute since I was in 5th grade (14 years ago). I performed in competitions throughout high school, as well as in the marching band (playing flute, piccolo, and was drum major my senior year). I played 6 out of 8 semesters of college band. Five semesters in concert band playing flute and piccolo and one semester in the orchestra playing piccolo.

Music Theory

I have been playing music since I was 7 years old (16 years ago). I began playing piano and also picked up flute when I was in the 5th grade. I have competed with piano, flute, and piccolo. I have achieved perfect or superior performances on all three instruments. When I was 16, I won a $400 scholarship for playing an 11 page Mendelssohn piece on the piano perfectly from memory. I also took about 7 years of music theory from my piano teacher. Additionally, I taught piano lessons for about three years while I was in high school and played flute/piccolo 6 out of 8 semesters in college concert band/orchestra.

Piano

I have played piano since I was about 7 years old (16 years ago). I played in competitions from the age of 9 years old until I was 16 years old. I won $400 for playing an 11 page Mendelssohn piece from memory. I also taught private piano lessons for about three years while I was in high school.
