Indiana University- Indianapolis (IUPUI) (Elementary Education)
Hello! My name is Alexandra P, or casually known as Ms. Ali. I graduated from IUPUI with my B.S. in Elementary Education in May of 2013. Since then, I have been working at a charter school and Montessori Academy. I have worked as an Instructional Assistant in the primary (1st-3rd) classroom, and in the Special Education Department. I have also been the lead teacher in both the upper elementary (4th-6th) and lower elementary (1st-3rd) classrooms. In the past three years, I have grown a tremendous amount. Through multiple roles and experiences, I have learned the areas that I am most passionate.
I genuinely love to help people in general. In whatever capacity I am able, I am willing to help. I have found that through one-on-one interaction, I am able to better target the needs of students. This is why I would like to extend my services to those who are seeking help in certain subject areas. I love the process of learning, and I enjoy making it an exciting journey for others as well. :)
Math has always been a favorite subject of mine, and I love making Math come to life in both realistic and visual ways.
Writing is one of my hobbies and has been for about 10 years now. I enjoy the art of expression most of all, but I also love preparing a solid argument for a specified cause.
The foundational skills of Mathematics are so important, and these skills take time to truly understand! I enjoy using manipulatives to accurately represent mathematical operations.
The English language is one of the most difficult languages to learn to read. From silent e's to special sounds--children need patience and guidance to make sense of the language. Intensive phonics instruction and exposure to an understanding of the language is something I promote.
Please e-mail me if there is something you would like to know more about regarding my tutoring style. Hopefully I can help your child in his/her journey of learning. :) Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
