Assisting others to become successful in life, especially at school, is a passion of mine. From February 2013 to May 2014, I worked as a tutor with After School Achievers in an MSD Washington Township school, assisting 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th graders with Math & English skills through homework assistance and enrichment activities. I was responsible for groups of up to 25 students at a time as well as communicating their progress and behavior to parents.
Obtaining a bachelor's degree in English from Boston University enables me to be an excellent English tutor. I love inspiring children to become passionate about reading and to be able to write themselves, especially creatively. Currently, I am participating in an online certification course for writing books for children of all ages as well as working on writing projects of my own. Through my current full-time work experience with a non profit organization that provides services to adult individuals with developmental disabilities, I have nurtured qualities of patience, attentive listening, considerate communication, and friendly motivation.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
