About Michael

I am a first year professional working in financial planning, but I am looking for another avenue to help people and tutor/mentor young adults.

In high school, I was an Eagle Scout, was a Managing Editor for the St. Louis Jewish Light Teen Page, was a writer for my high school newspaper, and worked at an outdoor theater. In college, I had five internships: communications with Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis, marketing with Maryville University Athletics Department, finance with Johnson & Johnson, finance with McCormack Baron Salazar and marketing with the Butler Business Consulting Group.

While in college, I served in multiple executive positions with Hillel, I was treasurer for Phi Delta Theta, I had the honor of being selected to Order of Omega and the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, and I was a writing tutor for the Butler University Writers' Studio.

I am a strong writer and can help outline, write and edit papers of any length. My longest paper was a 104 page research paper for McCormack Baron Salazar. Furthermore, I know how to sell myself, as I was selected to 3 honors fraternities and 5 internships in my four short years of college at Butler University. This skill is critical as we grow older, and it is important to know how to express yourself and your values when applying to colleges, internships and full-time employment opportunities. As such, I can offer tutoring services for young adult professional development.

My tutoring methods are focused on the big picture. When writing, I want students to know their arguments and how to accomplish that before focusing on grammar and spelling. When discussing interviewing and college applications, I help students figure out what they really want before choosing how they want to portray themselves.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

I am a first year professional working in financial planning with WestPoint Financial Group, but I am looking for another avenue to help people and tutor/mentor young adults. In college, I had five internships: communications with Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis, marketing with Maryville University Athletics Department, finance with Johnson & Johnson, finance with McCormack Baron Salazar and marketing with the Butler Business Consulting Group.

This skill is critical as we grow older, and it is important to know how to express yourself and your values when applying to colleges, internships and full-time employment opportunities. In addition, I had several career counseling classes and success in assisting friends outside of the College of Business, which is why I can offer tutoring services for high school and young adult professional development.

Writing

I was a managing editor and reporter in high school, and while at Butler University, I took two journalism courses and completed the training course to be a writing tutor at the Butler University Writers' Studio. I tutored for one year in 2012 and have continued tutoring independently since then.
