I am a Mom and a teacher. I treat my students as I treat my own kids. I want my students to feel successful and confident. I don't expect that every student will remember the quadratic formula into adulthood, but I do expect that they will remember learning to do something they thought was too complicated or beyond their ability and then realized they could.
Teaching is my second career. I have been teaching for 13 years to include teaching in large public schools, a private school and charter schools. My students have consistently had a 92-100% pass rate on the Algebra ECA. As a woman, I understand how girls view math and as a Mom of two grown sons, I understand, to the best of my ability, how boys view math. Great teacher! Very knowledge about community resources like books online websites for math! Robin uses real life examples to assist the learner in understanding math concepts.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
All of my students take the Accuplacer exam upon completion of Algebra 2. I am comfortable with its contents and tested skills.
I have been a licensed Algebra teacher in Florida and Indiana for the past 13 years. I have actively been teaching Algebra for the entire 13 years.
I was required to pass the CLAST in order to get my original teaching license in Florida. I passed on the first try.
I passed the Praxis 1 and Praxis 2 which was required to get my teaching license.
I am licensed to teach Math and Business in the State of Indiana and Delaware.
I am qualified to teach study skills as that is always part of my curriculum. Teaching students how to study is just as important as what to study. Also, as a student, myself, my study skills are strong.
