UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS
purdue calumet university (Master's)
My name is Jonathon and I have been teaching math and science at Hobart high school for 21 years. I am licensed in both math and physics at the high school level.
I have taught a wide variety of courses in my career: prealgebra, math problem solving, algebra 1, algebra 2, precalculus, advanced placement calculus, integrated chemistry/physics, and physics. I also have experience teaching physics at the college level and have taught an SAT math preparation course. For the past three years I have served as the math department chair. In 2007, I received an award from the Hobart Chamber of Commerce as the outstanding secondary educator of the year.
I feel that my experience has allowed me to reach students of different ability levels in an effective manner. I believe that I have been able to note the common pitfalls and struggles that students have with topics and can guide them through these difficulties.
I will be looking to start an SAT and ACT math preparation class in August. As I am looking for this to be a multiple student class, the hourly rate would be reduced from my current fee. If interested, please send an e-mail through WyzAnt so that I can put you on reservation for the class. Jonathon broke down the fundamentals of Calculus in a way that made sense. Step by step processes to reach the answers.
Jonathan is working with my son in college level Physics and Calculus. In just a few hours time, his understanding of the subjects has increased substantially!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
