Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Actuarial Science

My masters degree in mathematics includes a concentration in actuarial science. While working on my masters I was an undergraduate tutor, working with students in actuarial science. I have also passed exams P and FM of the Society of Actuaries, covering probability and financial mathematics.

Algebra 2

I have tutored algebra 2 and college algebra and am a college mathematics instructor.

Calculus

I received a score of 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam.

Differential Equations

I took a course in ordinary differential equations at the University of Maryland covering linear first and second degree equations, Laplace transform methods, systems of ODEs, and non-linear equations. Mathematica was used as well. I received a grade of A.

Discrete Math

I have taken college courses covering the material typically covered in a discrete mathematics course. Courses taken including logic (earned A), abstract algebra (earned A), and linear algebra (earned A). Discrete math covers all of these topics. In addition, I have tutored discrete math students at Roosevelt University.

Finite Math

I have taken college courses covering the material typically covered in a finite mathematics course. Courses taken include abstract algebra (earned A), and linear algebra (earned A). I have also tutored college algebra, which contains some finite math topics. In addition, I have tutored finite math students at Roosevelt University.

Flute

I have played the flute for 24 years and have performed with many different ensembles, including the University of Maryland Wind Ensemble, the Chicago City-Wide Symphony Orchestra and the Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band. In addition, I have served as the Principle Flutist of the City-Wide Orchestra.

General Music

I have played the flute for 24 years and have performed with many different ensembles. I have extensive experience working with many different types of music and have taken courses in music literature. I have given private instruction in music, how to read music, and performance techniques.

Geometry

I have taught honors level high school geometry.

Linear Algebra

I have taken two courses in linear algebra at the University of Maryland. The first was a standard linear algebra course covering matrix algebra, linear systems, vector spaces, linear transformation, and eigenvalues and eigenvectors. The second course was a more theoretical course covering linear algebra over more general fields. I have experience tutoring students in Linear Algebra as well at Roosevelt University.

Precalculus

I have a masters degree in Mathematics and have previously tutored precalculus.

Statistics

I have tutored and taught statistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels and have taken graduate level classes in statistics.
