My main goals are to make chemistry a little more predictable, and much less stressful for students, and to create chemistry materials for education that are useful to both teachers and students. My other main goal is to help you get a 5 on the AP Chem exam!

A timeline of me being a nerd about chemistry education:

December 2015: I graduated from college with a degree in Life Science Education.

August 2016 to June 2020: Taught AP Chemistry and Chemistry 1 at a public high school in Indiana to grades 10-12. In my time there, students consistently scored at and above U.S. and global averages on the AP Chemistry exam. I learned how to teach students to excel on the AP Chemistry exam. In June 2020 I moved away for career opportunities.

June 2018 to Present: I began writing AP Chemistry test questions on Albert.io. These are specifically aligned to the topics and learning objectives, and have rationales for why the correct answer is correct, and why each incorrect choice is incorrect. Since I'm constantly looking at the Curriculum and Exam Description (CED), this job has made me extremely familiar with the content that is on the AP Chemistry exam.

2019 to Present: I write chemistry curriculum for various other e-learning companies as a freelancer.

June 2020 to Present: I've been tutoring chemistry - AP Chemistry, High School Chemistry, IB Chemistry, PRAXIS Chemistry, and College General Chemistry I and II. Nearly all of my tutoring has been online; working together with students online has many benefits - the digital whiteboard, on screen calculator, sharing files, showing animations, etc.

January to June 2021: I led a 6 month, after school "AP Chemistry Boot Camp" for a private school in canada, with 10 students, via zoom, through many, many AP Chemistry multiple choice and free response practice questions to prepare them for the exam.

Essentially, I've been teaching Chemistry nonstop, year-round since 2016!

Outside of work, I obsess over my dog, play guitar and piano, video games, and watch tiktok.

Efficient & knowledgeable

Corban immediately got down to the work and spoke with my daughter with respect for her inteeligence even though she was struggling with the subject. He taught with the assumption that she knew it but just needed clarification & more time than the classroom provides. Immediately after the session she independently kept doing homework & had terrific success. I would say he is a quiet, confident instructor who brought out my daughters own confidence. Looking forward to more tutoring.

Knowledgeable tutor & Organized in his notes

He taught me how to find the molecular equation, ionic equation, net ionic equation, theoretical yield, actual yield, percentage yield, limiting reactant, calculating the equilibrium constant, and calculating the ionization constant. What was helpful to me was that he used examples very similar to what I was required to learn. Moreover, he used colors and provided clear notes immediately after the session. He labeled each board clearly for me to study later, so I did not have to waste time having to figure out which notes went with which topic. His willingness to work and show me examples that looked like the ones I had to solve on my own really helped me. Paying for his work was so worth it. I was not left feeling like I paid for help in understanding the concept, but that I did not get it. I was able to use his notes with very clear step by step directions to complete the work I had to do on my own. I would absolutely recommend him to others.

Life saver

Got a perfect score due to his help. He was a life saver. Couldn’t have done it without his help. I also like that I can read his white board, some other tutors have chicken scratch. It helps understanding the formula when you can actually read it on the whiteboard. Corbin really knows Chemistry. He is an expert at it. Corbin was able to go through all the problems I needed to do, with others I’m lucky to get through half of them. I’m so thankful he was able to help, especially after the hectic week I had. What a god sent.

He makes you use your common sense!

Corban taught me simpler ways to balance equations. This is crucial when taking standardized test because it will help you spend less time on thinking about the answers.

Easy to understand and learn from

The tutor was very patient and explained in a simplified way so the content wasn't overwhelming. He understood how to explain any confusion/doubts I had, even when I wasn't fully sure how to form a question. If I didn't understand a topic as a whole, he gave me a few places as options on where to start.

Knowledgeable and efficient

Corban has been helping my son with AP chem. He covers a lot of material in a short period of time, and we saw improvement in my son’s weekly tests after the first session. Highly recommend!
