I am a postgraduate student set to enter the Literary Studies PhD program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 2017. Before I leave the state, I would like to assist any students in the Michiana area with coursework relating to my research interests and experience. I earned my BA in English from Indiana University South Bend, having also studied abroad for a year in the Center for Japanese Studies language program at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. I possess an academic graduate certification in Language, Literacy and Culture Education from Indiana University Bloomington to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language. I earned my MA from the University of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, where my study concentrated on aspects of British Romanticism, visuality, and orientalism.

Over the course of my undergraduate career, I tutored fellow students in English literature, language, and composition. This usually took the form of helping international transfer students achieve a firmer grasp of the underlying components of a well-crafted college essay, as well as an appreciation of the texts on which these were partially based, their literary or artistic merits and historical relevance.

I welcome correspondence from tutees interested in any of the areas of study listed above, including or relating to English or Japanese literature or language, linguistic or cultural education, essay writing, or history, who wish to not only meet the structural demands of a particular assignment or course but achieve through dialogue a better understanding of the ideas and contexts informing them.
