About Brandon

There's a world of help out there, why should you choose me?

I can watch a student preform their work, and I can break it down and find exactly where the problem area is.

I have been in advanced math since the fourth grade, so I know all sorts of neat little math tips and tricks!

I teach by example! I know this sounds trivial, but I find that almost everyone I work with learns better by doing the work themselves with a little bit of guidance.

I am very flexible, and I can work with almost any schedule, and I am available outside of lessons for questions or concerns.

There is no cancellation fee for me, if a lesson has to be canceled, that's okay! If I cannot help with better understanding of the knowledge at hand, I don't charge a penny. Simple as that.

I make learning fun and simple, if a student is willing to take the time to sit down and try, I will help open doors that never seemed possible.

If you or someone you know needs a little bit of help with their work, feel free to contact me any time, any day. I will almost always respond within a couple hours. There is absolutely nothing to lose, but knowledge to gain!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Math has always come really easy for me, and I really feel like algebra is the base of everything. No matter what I do today, I always run into algebra in one way or another. Luckily, it's easy for me. Also luckily, I've had quite a bit of experience teaching this to friends and family, so I'm quite experienced. I am extremely fluent in algebra, and I am here to extend that knowledge to others!

Algebra 2

As I have stated before, I feel as though algebra is really at the heart of all math, and if it is not fully understood, it is so much harder to grasp more advanced math concepts. Sometimes it is just necessary to slow down and take the time to go through things one step at a time, nice and slow, and that's why I'm here.

Geometry

Geometry, where math and art collide. I've noticed that there tend to be students that really excel in other areas of math that just utterly fail at geometry. Luckily for those students, I know why they fail. It can be intimidating adding so many new equations and shapes into the math world, but not to fear. I have simply and easy to remember analogies that make geometry a breeze. As for those pesky questions, I can break them down in individual visual steps for easier grasping of the material.

Java

I am a current employed full time as a Java Application Developer, and I am Java SE 7 certified. I have been programming with Java since before I even started college. I am involved with multiple projects ranging from simple, single-method classes to full enterprise-level design and implementation. This is my bread and butter. This is what I want to teach.

Microsoft Access

As a Computer Programming major at Ivy Tech Community College, I was required to take a database design and management course. The main tool we used to learn functionality of databases was Microsoft Access. I am versed in all methods in Access including creating tables, forms, reports, queries, pivot tables, pivot charts, and relationships. I can also easily import and export data into, and out of, the database. I also have moderate knowledge of SQL, and can create simple queries with it.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is really what leads into algebra, algebra 2, statistics, calculus, geometry, and so much more. Prealgebra is a small, but vital part of learning math, and if it isn't learned thoroughly and properly, it will be very difficult to build a sturdy base in math later. I know just about everything there is to know about prealgebra by heart, and I love working out problems step by step.
