About Jasmine

As an undergraduate earning my Bachelor Degree in Psychology, I would dedicate much of my time at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America within my city as both an intern and volunteer. Much of the time spent within the facility I would either help various staff members with their groups or tutor students as part of the after school program. During the summer, many of the same duties remained the same, however I did spend nearly a month taking over the position of Art Teacher as the current Art Teacher was transitioning to a different position within the organization.

I am currently a graduate student of Psychology while continuing to work with children as a Teaching Assistant with Fort Wayne Community schools which requires me to perform similar tasks, however I do manage my own small groups and tutor children while also teaching lessons to the children when needed.

As a Teaching Assistant, I work at one specific school. Much of the time spent is working either in small groups or 1:1 with a student to better help them understand the material at hand. I currently specialize in tutoring literature, reading, comprehension, writing and math. These subjects however, are always growing!

I love working with children of various backgrounds! I understand that many subjects may be difficult or even make a child nervous which may lead to a failure or even regression within the subject. When I was younger, I was the same way especially in math and language arts. That was until I had the right teacher who was willing to expand their teaching in such way that all students would be able to learn. I too strive to do the same. No child is the same, nor are they less intelligent when it come to a particular subject. It is simply a manner of the teaching style.

I look forward to helping your child reach their full potential!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I currently work as a Teaching Assistant at an elementary school within the Fort Wayne Community Schools district. I am a graduate of Indiana University- Purdue University of Fort Wayne (IPFW) with a Bachelor of Psychology, and am currently obtaining my Master of Industrial Organizational Psychology. While working as an assistant, I help to both manage the classroom, teach lessons and work with smaller groups or 1:1 to better the student's ability to comprehend a subject. Many of the subjects in which I have taught include Literature, Reading, Comprehension, Writing , Spelling and Math. When working with smaller groups or 1:1, I try to focus on the needs of one student at a time if they have been found to need more help so that I can better understand what it is that they need more focus on. While this is occurring, I am also engaging other students in the activities at hand.
