About Jamie

I come from a family of teachers, and they all inspired me to teach! My degree is in Theology, and I am licensed to teach religion in Ohio. I began my college career as a music education major with a choral concentration, so I have also taken many courses in music.

Throughout college, I directed a MS band, a HS women's show choir and gave summer voice lessons to k-12 students. I also volunteered at ProjectReads as an after school tutor for two years.

After receiving my degree, I got a job teaching 7-10th grade religion. There I taught general religion, Bible courses, Morality, World Religions and Faith in Action, where I brought students to a local elementary school to help tutor in a program called ProjectMORE.

I have a passion for religion, music and helping children succeed!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am currently an ABA therapist at an Autism Center. I work one on one with children who have Autism. These children range in age from 2-18 years old.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been a tutor for 6 years. I've worked with students K-6 in ProjectREADS and ProjectMORE after school programs.

Flute

I began playing the flute when I was in 6th grade. I am still playing today-12 years later. I was also a MS band director for three years where I taught MS students to play flute and music theory.

General Music

I began college as a music education major. I have taken Theory I and II and Sight Singing/Aurol Skills I and II.

Reading

Reading/Writing tutor at Study Elementary
7-10th grade teacher 2013-2014
1:1 Therapy for children (ages 2-21) diagnosed with autism. This included all subjects in school. 2014-2015

Religion

I received my Bachelor's degree in Theology. Last year, I taught MS and HS religion. These classes included World Religions, so I have a general knowledge of all major religions around the world.

Theater

At 5 years old, I played Tootie in Meet Me in St. Louis. There I was asked to audition for professional theatre. Over the course of 8 years, I was in 13 professional productions working with both equity and non-equity actors.

Voice (Music)

In elementary school, I was involved in professional musical theatre and a featured soloist in All State Honor Choir. In high school, I was a featured soloist in a national show choir, FAME All Stars. I was also the first place recipient of a music scholarship from a vocal competition in Disney World. I began my college career with several music scholarships and a major of Music Education.
