About Kristopher

I have a strong background in mathematics and engineering. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering for University of Kentucky. I use mathematics daily as part of my job to make logical decisions that support business with hundreds of global customers. I've helped teachers prepare for the exams. I've helped engineers design reliably strong structures (my background has everything from medical devices, forklifts, vacuum cleaners, and microelectronics with extremely tight tolerances).

I am passionate about Physics. I have a deep understanding of Newtonian physics, thermodynamics, mechanical design, fluid flows, FEA, and more. I get excited to teach willing students the math, and often times the history of how the theories were developed. I am a patient, understanding, and easy to get along with professional. I am flexible and service driven. I will work to accommodate your learning style. I walk through example problems and ask questions to ensure the pupil comprehends the subject. I am non-judgmental and listen to students to identify the specific areas that the pupil is having trouble with.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drums

I've played drums for 18 years. I've played in rock bands, marching bands, and orchestral settings. I can read sheet music and I have experience teaching drums. I have a drum set and am willing to tutor students either by demonstration or instruction.

Mechanical Engineering

I am degreed in mechanical engineering from University of Kentucky (ABET accredited). I work as a mechanical engineer. I have experience teaching coworkers from diverse backgrounds the methods of calculating forces, material limits, and energy transfer.

Real world applications

After the first lesson, my son learned something new. This comes after multiple one on one's with his teacher. We look forward to the next hour with him and the applications my son can relate to.
