In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have a Masters Degree in teaching from Calumet College of St Joseph. I have taught High School and College classes in Computer applications, web development, and programming. I have tutored many students in reading and study skills. Many students find the Cornell system of note taking very helpful. Concentrating on the students organizational skills often yields better results in school. I have long believed students should be instructed on how to learn in school nit just what to learn.
