Lake Forest College (Computer Science)
I grew up loving math and puzzles. I majored in college in both Computer Science and Mathematics and enjoy working with both. Algebra is my favorite math subject, but I enjoy Calculus as well. I am a person who likes people and I especially like to show someone how to tackle something that does not come naturally for them.
I have been working with computers for over 27 years; owning my own computer consulting business. Through this, I have had to develop patience. I can help someone through the process of learning about anything in this area, but I especially like the challenge of tackling something complex in Microsoft Excel or Access.

Thank you so much for helping me with my access homework! You are very knowledgeable and were very good at explaining it to me! You put in time and effort that I appreciate very much so thank you!
Thanks for the great feedback, Alex. I'm happy to help you anytime. I can tell that you are bright and will be very successful at whatever you do.
Michael taught me the basics on categorizing expenses for my husband's company. He just scratched the surface and is very knowledgeable! I look forward to learning so much more about QB from him!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in access since the 90's and have created tables, queries, forms, reports as well as entire MS Access applications.
I have written these applications to support critical business functions such as Safety (Material Safety Data Sheets - MSDS's), and Quality (Quality Control Laboratory) as well as interfaced it to major ERP systems like Oracle Discrete Manufacturing and CIMPRO Process-Based Manufacturing.
I can start someone at the basics using macros, but I prefer to have them write VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code to work within their forms.
For the last 3 years, I have been doing Intuit Quickbooks Online as Business Manager of a local Swim Club. I was trained and partially self-taught in setting up member accounts, entering invoices, receiving payments, performing bank deposits, sending out member statements and tracking late A/R. I also have setup the chart of accounts, created yearly budgets, processed credits, continue to do monthly reconciliation and report the Balance Sheet and Net Income information to our board of directors.
I have confirmed all of my transactions with our local CPA firm who audits our books and sends our quarterly/yearly taxes for both state/local. I can enter check entries into the system, but actual check writing and payroll functions are performed by our Treasurer.
I have been coaching swimming since October of 2010 (almost 5 years). Previously, I had coached a local summer swim club in 1984-1987. I started coaching again because my son wanted to try out for a local swim team. Because I swam from the age of 5 until the age of 21, I can easily demonstrate and teach any of the strokes and have had a swimmer (16yr old boy) in only 5 years that has made it to the junior national level and another (12yr old girl) who is qualified at the Zone Championship level. I have helped at least 12 others to the State Level and as least 30 reach the state-wide Divisional level.
