When asked what I wanted to be growing up, most people thought I would say a Teacher because I came from a family where both my parents were math teachers. However, I realized pretty early in life that I didn't enjoy the classroom setting trying to teach 30 students who are all at different levels in their learning. Although I didn't want to be a classroom teacher, I love to teach. I love working one-on-one with students and watching them learn and grow in the process.
Some of my experience includes taking a peer-tutoring class in high school where I worked one-on-one with students in a junior high math class, tutoring college students in probability and statistics, and substitute teaching from grades K-12. I am a graduate of Huntington University where I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics with a GPA of 3.6. Although I majored in business, my main love is still math. I know math is a difficult subject for many students, but I get really excited about helping students better understand this challenging subject. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
