I have been tutoring for over 6 years now, predominantly in the algebra sequences. I graduated with two undergraduate degrees, both summa cum laude, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Lambda. I was a finalist for the highest academic honor given to a graduating senior at DePauw University.

I love the lightbulb "aha!" moment, and will work tirelessly to achieve moments for students where they not only understand the "what" of the concept, but also the "why" mechanics so that they can much easier apply it to other concepts.

I have tutored math for over six years. In high school, I went to an exclusive prep school where I definitely struggled compared to my peers, even though I was in collegiate coursework at 16. The class moved faster than I could understand, and only when I had a few 200-level courses in college under my belt did I feel like I fully and completely understood the concepts presented in high school. I think that makes me an empathetic ear. I understand when concepts are difficult and it feels like we're never going to get it, but I've now taken enough math classes that I have about five ways to explain each and every concept covered. I see tutoring as a team effort, not a top-down situation.

I have sang as a professional singer for a few years now, and have worked on repertoire as early as ca.1200 and as late as a world premiere in 2018 where the composer came to coach his work with the chorus and orchestra. I think that vocal technique should be flexible and healthy and that almost any repertoire can be sung with ease even if most of the recordings don't exhibit singers who sing that way. Because voice is such an individual pursuit, choosing repertoire will be as much of a collaboration as anything, and my work will be to find a technical foundation for whatever genre you wish to pursue.

The people I get to meet fulfill me as a human, and I love the variety of backgrounds, especially hearing about all the different ways these concepts are taught around the country and w

Music Theory

I have sung with a few GRAMMY-winning groups and how I prepare for those contracts is very much based on my ability to assimilate all the symbols in the music. To me, it is much like a foreign language, the more fluent you are in the symbology, the more effective you are at actually communicating through the medium.
Sight Singing,

Sight Singing

My professional work is paid by how well I sight sing. I have recorded for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi as well as publishers such as Hal Leonard. I received As in all four semesters of sight singing at the undergraduate level as well as tutored my final year in undergrad. Upon arriving at IU, I passed the graduate sight singing exam, waiving my requirement to take the course during my Masters

Voice (Music)

I have sung repertoire as early as ca. 1200 and as late as a world premiere in 2018 with multiple GRAMMY-winning organizations. I think that repertoire is a collaboration between teacher and student and technique is my role in helping you achieve whatever genre you would like.
