I’ve tutored Finite Mathematics, Calculus, Algebra, and more for the math department at Indiana University, where I enjoy finding ways of explaining concepts that help students understand what they’re working on from the perspective that’s most useful to them.

In high school, I did a lot of math! I got perfect scores on the SAT and ACT math sections, a perfect score on the SAT Math II Subject test, and a perfect score on the AP Calculus BC exam, qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination, and represented Colorado at the American Regions Mathematics League math competition.

Now, I’m a senior in college, about to graduate from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a major in music composition and minors in mathematics and electronic music. As a music major, I missed being as involved in math, so tutoring has been a fun way for me to stay involved with math while helping others out. While working for the IU Math Department, most of my work was individual tutoring, though I occasionally lead exam review sessions of groups of five to fifty students. I like both, but individual tutoring is my favorite because it lets me figure out how a specific person is thinking about a subject, and what information they need most.

If you’re working on SAT, ACT, GRE general math, Finite, Calc 1, Algebra, or related subjects, I’d love to help out!

I’m a music composition major in my senior year at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where I study composition with David Dzubay and voice with Judith Malafronte. I’ve won several awards for my pieces and have had my compositions performed by ensembles such as the Boulder Philharmonic, the Orlando Philharmonic, the Playground Ensemble, the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus and the Ars Nova Singers. In addition to composing, I love to teach. I’ve worked as a math tutor for IU’s math department, and in high school, I co-taught my school’s AP Music Theory course, and helped raise the class average AP score to the highest it had been to date!

Ear Training

I’m a music composition major in my senior year at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and theory is one of my favorite areas of study. I studied on my own to test out of all aural skills requirements and to test out of the first three levels of theory so that I could focus on maintaining a 4.0 and taking Theory IV (Romantic era), Honors Theory V (post-tonal theory), and Mathematical Music Theory. I earned the top awards in counterpoint, harmony, and solfege at the European American Musical Alliance. In high school, I co-taught my school’s AP Music Theory course, focusing particularly on ear training, and helped raise the class average AP score to the highest it had been to date!

Sight Singing

I’m a music composition major in my senior year at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I sing in NOTUS, the contemporary vocal ensemble, which has given me ample practice in developing strategies to sight-sing difficult music. Theory is one of my favorite areas of study. I studied on my own to test out of all aural skills requirements and to test out of the first three levels of theory so that I could focus on maintaining a 4.0 and taking Theory IV (Romantic era), Honors Theory V (post-tonal theory), and Mathematical Music Theory.
