My love of science started as a young child. As soon as I could read, I consumed everything I could find on almost every subject. I was especially drawn to physics, astronomy, and chemistry. My electrical engineering career started at the age of six when I got shocked plugging in the toaster! I received a 50-in-one project kit for my birthday at the age of 11 or 12 and began building circuits and experimenting with oscillators, radio receivers, electromagnets, electrolysis, and optics. I was very interested in high voltage circuits, lasers, and particle accelerators. I soon discovered the wonders of crystal radio receivers and shortwave broadcasts that could be picked up from around the world merely using simple tuned circuits and long-wire antennas. I took classes on electronics technology during both my Junior and Senior years of high-school as an elective. At university, I completed a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, I worked as an electronics engineer for more than 18 years, developing automated test systems for military avionics.
I never lost my childhood curiosity and love of learning. I am passionate about science, mathematics, and education. I have a long history of "hands-on" experience experimenting, building, and teaching others in a variety of settings. In my professional experience, I repeatedly took on unfamiliar challenges, conquered them, and passed on the resulting knowledge and experience to my colleagues. In my recent roll as a senior level engineer and project leader, I mentored less experienced colleagues in my area of expertise. They went on to become confident productive contributors as a result. I have been tutoring and teaching my own children in science and mathematics for several years at the high-school, middle school, and elementary school levels. When I was in high school, I remember my classmates continually coming to me for explanations of confusing concepts because I had a "knack" for making things clear.
If you find that you are just not "getting it", I can help!
I am comfortable using both Skype and Wyzant's on-line tutoring space. I prefer Wyzant's on-line tutoring space because of it's unique collaborative work-space and drawing tools. In a few instances, I have successfully tutored students over the phone using only an audio connection. In most cases I am willing to look at course materials and homework questions ahead of time to better prepare for the tutoring session. My video tutoring sessions are as close as possible to having me right there in the room with you. I am flexible on methods and will adjust as needed to accommodate technical difficulties or if I find the particular method of communication is not working effectively.
My favorite subjects include Physics, Astronomy, Linear Electrical Circuit Analysis, Pre-calculus, and Trigonometry.
Jason has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering 2 questions submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.
Takes time to explain important topics
Jason helped me a lot in my Mathmematics behind signals course. It is a very rigorous course and he spent a lot of time explaining topics and taking me through multiple examples. He always answered my questions and made time to help me review for upcoming exams. He was very reliable and we met every week this semester.Precious, 82 lessons with Jason
My son felt much more confident after meeting with Jason. He had several "A Ha" moments during the lesson and feels that he is ready to face his midterm on Thursday.Tiffany, 1 lesson with Jason

Great audio amplifier tutor
Jason helped identify issues with and explain the theory behind a circuit. He helped identify a miscalculated q point and pointed me in another direction. I had a good experience.Douglas, 1 lesson with Jason
Thorough and Engaged Tutor
I’m sure a tutor is supposed to be engaged, what I mean by the title is that Jason did walk through every single step with my daughter, was patient, and explained everything. He was perfect for our need and I am hopeful to keep working with Jason ongoing. So great to have such a great resource available!Jen, 1 lesson with Jason
Jason is very knowledgeable, kind and patient with my daughter.
She looks forward to the review time instead of dreading it, thank you very much Jason! She is better prepared for the SAT thanks to you. This darn site requires me to write at least 160 characters and I do wish to submit a great review, thus this final long sentence. Thanks again, BrittBritt, 9 lessons with Jason
Highly Recommended Chemistry Tutor
Jason teaches me multiple aspects of beginners chemistry- C103. He's worked with me with a wide variety of things such as balancing equations, net ionic equations, finding limiting reactants, excess amounts, converting from grams to moles, and looking at graphs. He goes along with me for each problem and makes sure I understand the problem. He's a very good tutor! Highly recommendedAlly, 23 lessons with Jason
