About Loudon

From 2005 to 2010, I worked with the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC). During this time, I not only managed and supervised children with special needs, I also set up daily curriculum and activities to enhance the knowledge and general well-being of the students. Previously, I was a case worker for a citizen with developmental disabilities with Lindley Habilitation Services where I utilized the very same skills I used at the ARC. I graduated from Christopher Newport University in June, 2012, and received a BA in history. My scholastic experience entailed organizing all course materials, managing various projects on my own and within a group dynamic, and creating projects to showcase my research.

I am currently working as an exceptional education teacher in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Here, I analyze IEPs and 504 Plans, create lesson plans and behavior plans for my students, and adapt my plans accordingly. Given the diverse and unique needs of my students, I am accustomed to differentiating content, delivery, and format to ensure their access the curriculum.

My experience working with individuals with special needs has definitely influenced my desire for a career with people with exceptional needs. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when helping others. My overall work experiences have enabled me to develop effective organizational and interpersonal skills: both extremely important in the position for which I am applying. I’m described by others as responsible, level-headed, focused, and most of all, patient; which are also personal attributes that would be advantageous to the position. In addition to all these skills, I have also passed the Praxis 2 General Knowledge test, hold a lateral teaching license with the state of North Carolina, and I have gone through OSHA and NCI training.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
