University of Catania, Italy (Master's)
I am a qualified educator and while still in College I started working in a private school, tutoring children with learning problem. That experience thought me to be very patience and to bring out the best from each student, finding a different approach of teaching for each of them.
Once a week teachers and we educators shared our experiences and made plan for the following weeks. I enjoyed working as a team.
Also I have always been eager to learn new languages and cultures. I spent few months in Greece after having achieved a scholarship and there I obtained a contract as translator by a private institute. It allowed me to share my love for literature making authors known in other languages.
After graduation I kept working as a Latin and Italian tutor.
Eventually, coming to the States, I had the great opportunity to teach Italian, Latin and Modern Greek at the Anne Arundel Community College in Annapolis, MD. It was a very formative and exciting experience and I understood that this is the career I would like to pursue.
Following my husband’s military move to MacDill AFB, I continued instructing Italian Language at University of South Florida. Once again, this was a fulfilling experience that ended only because of another move.
I am very interested in working as a tutor again.
I look forward to hearing from you. I am a qualified educator and while still in College I started working in a private school, tutoring children with learning problem. The tutoring experience has been great for me. I was taking an accelerated 6 week Italian 1 course at Loyola and the swift speed of the class was overwhelming. Monica helped me with great patience. We worked on homework, questions, and confusion I had. As a native speaker and a classroom teacher of Italian, she is the perfect tutor!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
