My passion for teaching and tutoring has grown throughout the years. I am a life-long learner and combine my lessons with new ideas, best practices, and tried-and-true activities. I have been teaching and tutoring for over 15 years in a variety of settings and with a wide variety of students, so I have truly learned to differentiate my lessons to meet the needs of individual students.
There are different ways I can approach specific tutoring. I can assess your child to find problems that may be creating difficulties for him or her, and then plan a program directed toward his/her needs. Also, I can use classroom work and homework to get them on the right track. Prior to the start of tutoring, we can discuss which strategy will work best for your child.

Miss Susan is a great tutor. She has been helping my daughter with reading for some time now, as she really struggles with it. She enjoys working with my daughter and finds ways to make reading exciting to her. She also has begun working with her on math (multiplication and division). I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a quality tutor. She has been flexible with our schedules and also location, coming to either my home or our daycare!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
