In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have helped many students to pass ACT, SAT, ASVAB, and GED. I have taught high school students for over 25 years.

I'm skilled in variables and expressions, real numbers, solving linear equations, and polynomial problems, including: factoring, rational expressions, solving linear equations, graphing, square roots and operations with radicals and solving quadratic equations, functions and graphs and solving rational equations, and some trigonometry.

I've taught American History for over 25 years and helped students pass Constitution test. I have worked with many students that have difficulties learning facts and issues of US government and developed many methods to help them.

I taught English during my 30 years as a Sp. Ed. teacher with Jr. high and high school students. Most of them were labeled LD/BD. They required the use of many different materials and methods to help them understand the rules and usage of English language. Much of their instruction was individualized or in small groups. Each student needed to develop their own approach to comprehending how to remember the rules of English. Often it required using a written list to remind them of what steps to follow to help them, which way to approach how to use English rules correctly.

The GED is a very comprehensive test covering a large amount of information in many subjects. So it requires much studying and knowledge to pass it. I have been teaching mostly high school subjects for over 30 years. Working with special needs students required me to teach many subjects and adapt and develop different teaching methods to assist them to pass. This has helped me to find ways to help students learn required information to pass and aids in these kind of tests.

I taught English as a Sp. Ed. teacher for 30 years, to students from 5th grade to high school. I had to use a wide variety of methods to help students understand and write English. Many students had more than one learning or behavior disability, which caused me to create individual lessons for many of these students to assist them with the proper use of English grammar.

I had Algebra in both High school and college. I have successfully taught Prealgebra/Algebra over 25 years to both Jr. high and high school Sp. Ed. students. I have use a wide variety of methods and materials to help students pass these subjects.

I have been working with Special Ed. students with reading difficulties for over 30 years. I have used many different methods and a wide assortment of materials to assist them to improve their reading and comprehension. I attend reading conferences every year to stay current in methods which have proven to be successful.

I've worked with several students to take ACT/SAT and they did very well. I have taught math to jr. high/high school students for over 25 years.

Ed. students in all subjects: English Algebra Math, Geometry, History, geography, civics, general/physical sciences, psychology, Spanish, computer tech. I have taught mostly Jr. high and high school age students in public and special schools. I have worked with inner city as well as suburban students.

I took classes in Development of Civilization in college, which covered history of other nations. I've read widely about other nations in Europe, Asia, and South America. I also took anthropology classes about the cultures of Africa and South America.
