About Roger

Hello,

I am Roger. I hold a PhD in Economics and have been teaching Economics at the college level for almost a decade. I have a very strong background in quantitative subjects such as

Quantitative Reasoning (GRE and GMAT)
Economics (all areas of)
Excel

I have a knack for breaking complex matters down in all subject areas I teach. I know my students learn in different ways. Some are visual learners; some are problem-solvers. I tailor my teaching method to the needs and strengths of each of my students. I am very patient and aware of the stress associated with preparing for a test or meeting a deadline. I particularly work well with graduate students and adult students who are going back to school.

An aspect of the teaching that I enjoy the most is one-on-one sessions with my students. This is why I've become interested in tutoring. I am available for online tutoring (through Skype etc.) as well.

Regardless of your level or background, I can help you achieve your goals. I can make complex subjects more digestible, even fun!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have a strong background in math as I hold a Ph.D. economics and studied economics for 13 years. As a college teacher, I often deal with students with diverse academic preparations which helped me become a pedagogically innovative and flexible teacher. I am patient with my students and have many tricks up my sleeve to make math enjoyable and easy.

Differential Equations

Differential equations and their economic applications (e.g. optimization) are a part of a standard economics education, particularly at the graduate level. I hold a Ph.D. in economics and have intimate knowledge of differential equations.

Economics

I hold a Ph.D. in Economics and taught various subjects at the college level for almost a decade. I am very innovative as an instructor and can make any subject more digestible, even fun!

GRE

I have received near-perfect score in the quantitative section when I took the test for my graduate school applications. Also, I have a strong background in quantitative reasoning in general and am generally math savvy. I teach economics at the college level and can easily break down complex problems in algebra and geometry etc. to make them more digestible, even fun.

Turkish

I was born and grew up in Turkey. Turkish is my mother tongue and I am a very articulate writer and speaker of the language. I am in command of all the grammar and enunciation rules.

Thorough, friendly, easily understood, superior command of economics

Roger was an excellent tutor. We reviewed over five pages of dense and complex economics problems and throughout our time together he was very patient and very clear when talking through the problems; diligent in ensuring every problem reviewed was thoroughly answered and accurate; and--no surprise given his credentials--but had a superior command of both micro and macro economics. I highly reco
