I have 17 years of experience in business. Prior to that, I did career coaching in college and university settings, as well as the not-for-profit sector. I utilize about 15 different assessment tools [3 - 5 per user], and come up with specific recommendations regarding exciting and fulfilling career paths, as well as some contacts in those kinds of firms. I have unusual talent fir discerning the gifts, skills and passions of individuals, and helping them plan a satisfying and fulfilling career direction.
I am an intuitive listener and attempt to evaluate the learning style of each person with whom I work. Once I am clear about learning style, I can formulate comments and questions in ways in which they can more readily understand. I use an affirming style, but also ask the difficult and uncomfortable questions so that the individuals has a somewhat objective view of themselves, i.e., how others might perceive them.
I have helped individuals and firms identify their KPI's [key performance indicators - what it is they want to measure], and then recommended a combination of them to bring relevant information to the feedback discussion. I have re-invented myself in four different careers, so it is one of the skill area of which I am most proud. I have 17 years of experience in business. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in for-profit businesses for 16 years, and not-for-profit ones for 14 years.
In my coaching, I have elected to be a career generalist, so that I have worked with every major industry in the Global Fortune 1000.
My Ph. D. is in family systems so it helps me understand the dynamics of different BU's, and how they all fit together in the total business proposition(s).
I have consulted with all levels from the mail room to the CEO, and feel comfortable with all of them. As a Career Generalist, I have also intentionally worked with every one of the 7 major functions of business: management, marketing, legal; human resources; IT; operations; and finance.
I have been certified in 10 different assessment instruments which evaluate careers, intelligence, team-building, fit for a firm, or emotional intelligence.
Several times, I have evaluated "high-performance" candidates and provided "best-fit" recommendations for firms.
Numerous times, I have listened to the Key Performance Indicators that a firm/individual wants to evaluate, and put together a comprehensive assessment with feedback to help either select the best candidate, or to chart a solid career direction.
I have coached over 3,500 individuals in the previous 14 years on career management issues.
