About Grace

I have taken classes in successful teaching strategies, as I was enrolled in the Education program at my college, as well as learning about teaching students with Disabilities. The education department at my college required a program called sophomore block. In sophomore block, I'd spend a full school day, arriving around 9 in the morning (I had a 8 A.M. to 9 A.M. class, or else I would have been at the school at an earlier hour) and did not leave until around 5, an hour and a half after the school day. I was an assistant to a high school teacher, and taught lessons on my own as well as worked with her to better understand a classroom environment. I also tutored students individually and created specialized plans to help them, in terms of their own specific needs and came up with strategies that worked well for my specific students.

I love tutoring students because I believe that every student has the opportunity to do well, but each person encodes information differently. This is why I believe it is important to adapt teaching strategies to a student's specific needs and strengths. I believe that there are many students who have brains that operate differently from others, and that is alright; it just means that the student and I have to come up with strategies that are suited to that student. I love tutoring because I enjoy putting information into different formats that can make an impossible seeming topic suddenly clear. I have learning disabilities myself, and because of this I have come up with strategies to help myself which I can also use or adapt for students who need it. My disabilities have also helped me to realize that every person's brain works differently, and the key to learning is coming up with strategies that helps a specific person's brain or way of thinking. I enjoy helping others learn in any way I can.

In my major, I have a GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0. I achieved a perfect score in the Reading section of the ACT when I took it myself, and a 34 in the English section of the ACT. As I said above in my Bio, I have taken classes in successful teaching strategies, as I was enrolled in the Education program at my college, as well as learning about teaching students with Disabilities. The education department at my college required a program called sophomore block. I explained sophomore block in the above paragraph, but to go into more detail, this program helped me to become acclimated to a classroom setting as well as to understand the unique difficulties each student may face, in terms of the lesson maybe not making sense to them. I worked one-on-one with specific students in the classroom to improve their writing skills, and to have discussions about the edits I made so that my students could better understand areas where they may need to improve. I also had students seek me out during their free periods for help, in terms of writing papers, editing papers, as well as speeches, poetry, and comprehending various pieces of literature that were read in the classroom.

I also regularly, even when I am in college, have peers asking for help in terms of looking at papers, giving advice on said papers-in which I take the time to work through individually the paper and change things that may seem problematic, I am very good at comprehending literature and putting scenarios into a context that is easily understandable when before it may have been difficult.

Please contact me as I look forward to hearing from you, and helping you to achieve success in your studies!
