About Alaa

My name is Alaa. I am a Christian Palestinian born in Jerusalem and grew up in Bethlehem. I live in Wheaton, Illinois with my wife and two daughters.

I have a B.A in biblical studies, and an MA degree in biblical history. I am currently doing a second MA in archaeology and after that I am looking forward to do my Ph.D in Archaeology. I am hoping to teach and tutor Arabic while I am studying.

I taught college students in the Arabic language for seven years. I love teaching and helping people learn new things.

I was born and raised speaking and learning, reading and writing in Arabic. I am fluent in Arabic because it's my native language and since I have teaching experience I can combine my knowledge of Arabic with my ability to teach. I am fluent in English too since I have been studying my Master's in English. I am also able to teach the subjects of Religion, Biblical Studies, Reading, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft outlook, and Chess.

Please, send me a message. My schedule is flexible.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Arabic

I am a native born Arabic speaker. All of my schooling education had been taught in the Arabic language from kindergarten until grade 12. Additionally, each year we took Arabic language courses. In these courses we had learned the Arabic language's grammar, literature and its history.

I have two years experience of tutoring Arabic. When I tutor I use a book for teaching Arabic, a computer and a PowerPoint to be effective in my teaching. I believe with my knowledge of the Arabic language and experience of tutoring in this language I can combine both and tutor/ teach Arabic.

Bible Studies

I have a BA degree in Biblical Studies, MA degree in Biblical history and currently working on my Second MA degree in biblical archaeology. I have experience in teaching Colleges' students for seven years in the subject of Biblical studies.

Chess

One of my teachers at school taught me how to play chess. Afterward, I started playing chess with my friends until now. I am very good and skillful in this game. I have tutored many students in how to play this game. When I teach, tutor this game, first I teach my students the functions of every figure of the chess game and then teach them how to move the figures on the chess board. I have 2 years experience of teaching, tutoring chess.

English

I have studied English from 5th to 12th grade and during my studies in the College. Moreover my first MA degree in Biblical history was studied in English in an American school functioning overseas. Microsoft Excel

When I was teaching at a Bible College, I worked also as a part time employee in the College's Database and correspondence department. In this position I used many computer programs such as Microsoft Excel. I used this program to type and save all important data of the College's friends such as their addresses. This program was /is very useful when I used to do the mail merge in order to send the College's newsletter to the thousands of friends.
Also, I used this program to sum up my students grades and save them in it. I worked in the College's database department for 4 years. I was trained how to use this program by the College's IT manager. When I left this position to be a full time teacher, I trained the next employee who will take my place how to use it. When I teach this, I use a computer and monitor so the student will be able to see how this program works.

Microsoft Outlook

When I was teaching at a Bible College, I worked also as a part time employee in the College's Database and correspondence department. In this position, I used many programs such as Microsoft Outlook. I used this program to send and receive e-mails from the College friends. Also, I used the program features such as the calendar, Journal.. etc.. I worked in this department using the same program for 4 years. I was trained how to use this program by the College's IT manager. When I left this position to be a full time teacher, I trained the next employee who will take my place how to use it. When I teach this, I use a computer and monitor so the student will be able to see how this program works.

Microsoft Word

I am very good in this program because it was mandatory during my school years. I have studied this program in my school's computer classes. Moreover, all of my undergrad and graduate studies until now I use this program in order to type my research papers and print them out. Also, I use it in the office to do the mail merge when I am sending many letters.
When I teach or tutor about this program, I use a computer and monitor so the students would be able to see the program and its functions.

Reading

I started studying the English language since fifth grade and during my education in College. In all of my English language courses I took, grammar, reading and comprehension. My first MA degree was studied in English and I am currently doing a second MA degree in Archaeology at an American school.

When I teach this subject, I usually use a Computer and a PowerPoint to be more effective in my teaching.

Religion

All of my degrees ( BA and MA) were in the subject of Biblical studies which are related to Religions. In the Colleges that I attended and still attending I took courses on the comparative Religions. In these courses we studied about other Religions. When I taught for seven years at a Bible College, I taught about religions such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc.
When I teach about this subject I usually use a computer and PowerPoint to be more effective in my teaching.

Excellent tutor

Alaa is an excellent language tutor. I've worked with roughly half a dozen Arabic tutors in the past 3 years and Alaa easily outshines them all by comparison. When we meet, we usually just practice conversation (my preference) but he also is attentive to explain grammar and vocabulary issues. Alaa speaks clearly and intentionally enunciates difficult syllables in a manner most Arabic speakers ove
