I have taught upper level high school mathematics such as AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry along with college level Multivariate Calculus. I also tutored ACT Math on one-on-one and group settings.
I am very passionate about helping students of all works of life in their math. I was a part-time adjunct faculty at a local community college. I have taught AP (Advanced Placement) Statistics and been a AP Statistics Reader with College Board for a number of years. I could help students with hypothesis tests and data collection and analysis. I have been National Board Certified Teacher in AYA ( Adolescents and Young Adults). I taught and helped urban high school students who had all kinds of issues and problems in their lives and they learned daily applications of math in my classrooms using technologies such as computer, graphing calculators, and other educational resources.
I enjoy interacting with young minds and continue to develop new ways to teach and learn mathematics in the twenty first century. I have been a regular member of local math club of teachers and professors and presented on TI (Texas Instrument) 84-Plus applications a couple of different occasions. I have taught upper level high school mathematics such as AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Read more
Regular math classes are based upon the hourly rate but AP or higher level (college math) goes higher.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When I took Ph.D courses at University of Chicago for financial derivatives, I was exposed to Differential Equations in continuous and discrete time. It took me almost 6 months to complete the course and I had to go to math department and ask further questions in regard to slope fields and Euler methods. I also took Econometrics course in which I did stochastic differential equations where I dealt with noise in simultaneous equations. I continued to work on differential equations in the application to financial derivatives when I worked on futures market. It is a fascinating area to apply mathematical models to real world. I continue to learn it and sharpen my knowledge in this area.
I have taken a class of Linear Algebra when I prepared my teaching license. Since then I enjoy teaching and tutoring the subject with success. I am amazed by matrices and vectors and their applications to real life.
