North Central College Naperville, IL (Math and Education)
Does doing math ever feel like speaking and writing in a foreign language? There are so many new terms and formulas and word problems... but what do they all MEAN?
That's where I come in! Whether you feel totally lost or just need a little extra help, I would love to show you much sense math makes when you hear it in language you can understand.
Here are some of the areas where I can help:
-catching up on missed lessons
-getting ahead on future lessons
A little more about me:
I earned a B.A. from North Central College in both Mathematics and Education. I have an Illinois Initial Secondary Teaching Certificate in Mathematics for grades 6 through 12 with a Middle School endorsement; however, my passion is for private tutoring. I am a part-time math tutor and full-time stay-at-home-mom to my little girl. I enjoy playing board games, watching Star Trek, baking pies, and... of course, doing math. Does doing math ever feel like speaking and writing in a foreign language? There are so many new terms and formulas and word problems... but what do they all

My daughter's lessons with Lauren have been great. I love that Lauren gives her the time to figure out the problems on her own, but will notice her spending to much time on a problem and will question what she is thinking. My daughter will at times not want to say what she is thinking in fear of being wrong. My daughter is usually on the right path in what she is thinking, but when she is not Lauren is always positive and will help her think in the right direction. Lauren will give great tips to use and things to notice in certain problems. I believe in just these three lessons that she has had things stick in her mind that Lauren has gone over that will help her in class and on tests. Great tutor!
She is great always leave with more understanding than I came with not just answers. Look forward to our next session
No one likes getting ready for the new school year, but Lauren's calming and encouraging demeanor makes review for the coming year almost fun!
My daughter was very comfortable with Lauren. She was very fatigued studying with her parents! Lauren was able to discuss our daughter's areas of need without her feeling "challenged."
Lauren tutored my son in Algebra, and because of her he has gained a deeper understanding of the subject. My son is well prepared for the next level in math as he moves into high school.
Thank you Lauren for helping my student. We will contact you in the fall to start up again! Have a great summer.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
