I am 58 years old female from Waukegan,Illinois and native from birth. A single parent of three adult children, all Waukegan high school graduates, two with degrees and college courses from CLC. I have dedicated my life to bettering the quality of life for children, teenagers and people in general in Lake County through education. With my many years of community service and years of advocating for education at all levels, I bring to any potential student, the knowledge of my disciplines and much more. My degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI equips me to teach without hesitancy the aspects of these areas. I am a State of Illinois Certified Substitute Teacher for K-12 schools, particularly in Social studies and English including reading, writing, spelling and vocabulary. I have Substituted in North Chicago schools, Zion High School and Waukegan schools.
I am committed to the success of all learners! I have worked with young people for 25-30 years to better their lives through education and policy making. I currently am President of the Waukegan Public School board and my longevity on the Board of Education speaks for the confidence the students, parents and community have in me as I have been reelected consecutively since 1995. I have successfully guided 26 Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice high risk juvenile ex-offenders to complete and receive their GED certifications while they were in Rebound, a residential setting. I have devised and implemented youth crime prevention (recreation) programs for BSPO a community parent organization since 1983 to present day. You will not be disappointed! I make education fun and stress free. My style is to assess my students basic skills in the subject area whatever it may be. I will stay consistent with communications via the email, cellphone and in person. Tutoring does not end until success is achieved.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I successfully conducted GED classes for students in Rebound, a residential release program for juvenile ex-offenders. Results being 26 completed GED Certifications within 9-11 months.
