About Mark

I am a retired U. S. Treasury employee who has taught school for nine years. Upon reentering local universities (after retirement) in Education, my focus was English and Language Arts, Secondary Education. My certification is from the State of Missouri.

I have taught Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies to junior high school students in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

There is a rigor in learning that no popular education theory can replace. Hard work is key but enthusiasm by the teacher is important. If someone is willing to work, this tutor will bring the enthusiasm.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

Twenty three of my twenty six years working in the Treasury Department involved extensive public speaking. I also taught English at the junior high school level, including coaching our school in a Speech League in St. Louis. I have also served as a judge in the various competitions.
