My name is Dana R. and I have 12 years' experience working in education. This past school year I taught kindergarten in Naperville District #203. There I have utilized Standards Based Grading, administered district and Standards Based assessments, and differentiated learning for all of my students using the curriculums aligned with District #203.
As a student teacher in #203 I gained valuable professional experience with regard to classroom management, teaming and best instructional practices for children. At the end of my student teaching experience I was fortunate to gain employment as an instructional assistant in a kindergarten classroom in Lombard, School District 44. This instructional assistant experience coupled with my #203 student teaching experience has provided me with a solid foundation upon which to build my teaching career. I also was able to take over a 12 week maternity leave in a 2nd grade classroom at Butterfield. I was able to be a permanent substitute teacher for District #203 and an enrollment assistant in a kindergarten classroom at #203. I also attended institute days, staff development, and other district related trainings that helped me understand the curriculum that District #203 uses in different subjects.
There is a lot of experience I feel I could bring to any student looking for a tutor. I would love the opportunity to speak with you about possible tutoring options.
I had a lot of experience working with our grammar and reading curriculums in the school district. I feel confident I could continue that outside of the school.
I have had experience working with grades k-8. I feel very confident I can be a great help to any student who is looking for a tutor. I also ran an after school program in West Chicago that helped students with their homework.
This past year I worked a lot with the math specialist within my school building and gained a lot of great insight from her. I would love to apply these strategies to a student looking for a tutor!
Having classroom experience I feel that I could really help a struggling student with phonics.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
