About Dan

I am an LBS1 certified Special Education teacher with middle school Social Science endorsement. Prior to acquiring my Special Education degree I had spent time working in the financial and retail sectors. I worked trading futures at the Chicago Board of Trade and for Best Buy corporate. I participated in choir, football, wrestling, and strength training throughout high school and college. I have spent the last 9 years coaching wrestling, football, and strength and conditioning. I returned to school to put to work my passion for working with individuals with special needs.

I am currently in my second year teaching Special Education at the elementary/middle school level. Last year I taught Math and English Language Arts in resource and co-teach settings for students 4th-8th grade. In the current school year I teach primarily in a self-contained/resource setting. I currently teach Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. I have and/or currently work with students with the following disabilities: EBD, OHI, mild to moderate cognitive disabilities, autism, LD, and ADHD. I enjoy working with students to their strengths and interests and modify and scaffold learning materials to meet those parameters. I understand from my own experiences that learning becomes more effective when it is fun, relates in a personal manner, and is taught at a level that will be effective in both mastering content and finding personal success.
