About Robert

I was born in and raised in Seoul, the capital of Korea and speak standard and formal Korean.
I came to USA as a transfer student when I was a junior in college and lived in USA since then.
I studied Industrial Engineering in my university in Korea and continued and graduated at Iowa State University. And then I majored Engineering Management in my graduate school.

I started my career as an quality engineer in USA. And then worked most of my career as an application engineer and sale engineer for US customers in a Korean manufacturing company.
Since then, my work always has been in speaking and writing both Korean and English in business as well as casual talking with people in Korean and USA.

I am a sales director and also sales engineer mainly performing consulting, designs and problem-solving between the engineers in US manufacturing companies and Korean manufacturing companies. My career has been filled with being a Korean-English translator in serious technical and legal events including factory audits, engineering meetings, patent lawsuits, Quality claims lawsuits, etc.

As well as teaching daily conversations, I am prepared to teach any special needs in aspects of technical subjects and engineering terms.

I have taught Korean in a Korean language school for children in elementary schools and middle schools in Chicago. And I help Korean-American Trade Association in Chicago when there is any formal events and serve as an active member of the Association.

Because of my work between US and Korea, I visit Korea 4~5 times a year and keep up news, styles, words and interests of Koreans currently placed in Korea.

If you need any help in spoken and written Korean, especially in business or work/job related environment or need to prepare for, I am certain that I can be a unique tool to prepare for your current or upcoming Korean-related events.

I will also explain about Korean culture, how to behave in formal/ business situations, the ways to building relationship with people, as well as answering your questions in business and personal relationship.

This tutoring is my hobby and I'll be very glad to share my knowledge about Korean.
Thank you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
