The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Math)
I believe that anyone who puts forth effort and time to a goal in mind can achieve anything, no matter how sublime. I believe that hard work and perseverance are more important qualities than innate intelligence and talent. I believe that without hard work and perseverance, there can be no success, but one can become successful without intelligence and talent. I have privately tutored students and tutored students in a classroom setting. I have taught students who were arrogant and turned humble, students who believed they had no aptitude in anything and turned capable. The thing I love about tutoring is that students are able to find out how possible it is to reach for the stars and not only grab them, but make their own.
I achieved a score of 36 on the Math portion of the ACT and graduated with a Math Major from one of the most elite STEM universities in the nation: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have also scored A's in the subjects of Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Calculus along with many other math subjects ranging from high school level to graduate school caliber.
I encourage anyone who has a willingness to learn to contact me for tutoring opportunities. My only goal is to show and guide students to the next level and continually have them strive for greatness which is tangible for any, and gain that which they cannot lose. I believe that anyone who puts forth effort and time to a goal in mind can achieve anything, no matter how sublime. I believe that hard work and perseverance are more important qualities than innate intelligence and talent. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In high school, I scored a 35 on the ACT English section. As a result, I have proven to know and understand grammar concepts, reading analysis, sentence structure, extensive vocabulary, etc. The tutoring method will include reading passages, writing, and memorization of many grammar concepts.
In high school, I was able to achieve a score of 36 in the ACT math section. With hard work and dedication, I was able to achieve this score and understand the topics presented in the test.
In high school, I was able to score a 32 on my ACT Reading section. I am highly versed in reading analysis, writing technique, English vocabulary, and many reading techniques. I believe that I am able to teach anyone willing to learn such concepts and processes, as the only prerequisites of learning these is a willing mind.
During junior high school, I was able to score very high grades for Algebra 1. I have a very acute understanding of unknown variables, quadratic equations, systems of linear systems, etc. I also have very easy, understandable ways of learning such topics in Algebra 1 that can be adapted by anyone willing to try.
During junior high and high school, I was able to understand Algebra 2 with ease and scored well on exams and quizzes. As Algebra 2 covers logarithmic/exponential functions, polynomial concepts, sequences/series, radical equations, etc, I know that with my knowledgeable understanding of these subjects, I will be able to teach any student with ease and understanding. As these concepts are also related to other math subjects, I will also be able to teach beyond the scope of Algebra 2 if need be.
