I love to learn, and I love to help others learn, too. I especially enjoy helping people learn to tackle math and physics problems. I earned a physics degree and graduated cum laude in three years from an Ivy League school, and I am currently working on my PhD in physics at one of the top ten universities in the country for physics. I specialize in physics education research, so I spend a lot of time thinking about how instructors can make physics more accessible to students. I have been...

I love to learn, and I love to help others learn, too. I especially enjoy helping people learn to tackle math and physics problems. I earned a physics degree and graduated cum laude in three years from an Ivy League school, and I am currently working on my PhD in physics at one of the top ten universities in the country for physics. I specialize in physics education research, so I spend a lot of time thinking about how instructors can make physics more accessible to students. I have been tutoring for over 15 years and helping students with standardized test prep for nine years. My students have improved by an average of 4 points on the ACT and 150 points on the SAT, helping them gain admission to selective schools and earn scholarships. I have three years of experience teaching undergraduate physics lab and discussion sections and have been rated as excellent and outstanding by my students on end-of-semester instructor rating surveys. In both test prep and academic tutoring, I focus on each student's specific needs and help them improve their skills. I shift from brief explanations and examples to guiding students through problems, gradually removing supports until students can solve problems on their own. I pay attention to where students are struggling and offer more instruction and practice in those areas. I am very patient and encouraging, and I try to come up with multiple ways to explain or represent concepts as needed to provide students with multiple possible access points to understanding an idea. Best tutor I've ever had

I would recommend Devyn to anyone, she's very patient and good at discerning what aspect isn't "clicking" with you and how to explain that. She's also great because she takes it one step at a time until you are able to do that problem independently, which means you really understand it. She's the best!
